Restaurant websites, built and hosted for you

  • You can now get a restaurant website built and hosted for you with the new Professional + Website plan
  • Your menus on the website update automatically every time you publish
  • Open Website in the sidebar to request yours and track its progress

Spreadsheet uploads, one page per tab

  • Menu generation now accepts older Excel .xls files as well as .xlsx
  • Each tab in an uploaded spreadsheet becomes its own page, named after the tab
  • The editor now pauses after 30 minutes without activity, so a teammate isn't locked out for long
  • A round of polish on duplicated pages, decoration layering and the generation progress screen

Your menu on Google, kept up to date

  • Connect your Google Business Profile so the menu link on Google Search and Maps always points at your published menu
  • You can also send your sections, dishes, prices and allergens to Google, so they show on your listing
  • Google is updated automatically every time you publish, unpublish or change a translation, with nothing to copy over by hand
  • Getting started now has an optional step to connect Google; it's new, so please tell us if your listing looks wrong
  • Set a menu's language in Menu settings
  • Letters a font doesn't have, such as Greek or Thai, now show in a matching font in the editor, in print and on the web
  • If a menu changes somewhere else while you're editing, a banner now asks you to reload
  • A round of polish so printed and published menus match the editor more closely

Ten holiday themes, and selecting several items on your phone

  • Ten new holiday themes for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve
  • Select multiple mode in the phone editor lets you tap several items and change them together
  • Settings in the side panel are now grouped so the ones you use most come first
  • Tapping an item on your phone no longer sometimes deselects it straight away
  • Background art on nearly matching page sizes is now gently fitted instead of cropped, so more of the border stays visible
  • Your restaurant's website address now saves correctly even with a stray space, and any problem shows on the field right away

Faster PDFs, tidier prices, and more room around the artwork

  • Menus set in Georgia or Verdana now print in those fonts
  • PDF downloads and print orders are generated faster
  • Card backgrounds behind a section now always wrap every item on printed menus
  • An item with several sizes or a long price now moves its prices to their own line instead of squeezing the item name
  • Item photos now sit clear of separator lines, and names get a little more room beside regular weight prices
  • The allergen legend is easier to read on published menus
  • More breathing room between your menu and the artwork on a couple of themes
  • Refreshed spicy markers and menu icons, matching across the editor, print, and the web

Printed menus that match the editor

  • Long section titles now wrap onto a second line and keep their ornaments
  • Fixes for text overlapping in several themes when names, descriptions, or section titles run to two lines
  • Letters that dip below the line are no longer clipped in descriptions
  • Printed menus and PDFs now follow the editor more closely, from dietary tags and dotted leaders to add-ons, opening hours, decorations, and shadows
  • Sold out items are shown struck through everywhere, and price size labels appear exactly as you typed them
  • QR codes get a small quiet margin so they scan more reliably
  • Published menus in languages other than English are now labelled correctly for browsers and screen readers
  • A round of reliability fixes for menus with unusual content

Spreadsheet menus and iPhone photos are back, and a lighter sign in

  • Fixes for creating a menu from an Excel spreadsheet; a recent update had stopped spreadsheets from being read
  • A heading merged across several spreadsheet columns is now read once, so your restaurant name or a section title no longer arrives repeated in the generated menu
  • Fixes for uploading photos straight from an iPhone or iPad; a security setting had started blocking their conversion
  • Starting a menu generation is more reliable: a brief hiccup on our side is retried instead of showing an error
  • The sign in, sign up, and invitation pages load faster
  • A round of polish on the menu wizard's theme step

Twelve South American themes, and QR codes in your own style

  • Twelve new themes for Argentinian, Brazilian, and Peruvian restaurants take the collection past ninety
  • They cover steakhouses and grill houses, wine bars, cafes, beach bars, cocktail lounges, and fine dining, with art from saddle leather and grapevine borders to Andean weaving
  • Argentinian, Brazilian, and Peruvian join the cuisine filters, so these themes are easy to find
  • Style your QR code in the share dialog: choose square, rounded, or dotted shapes, set the code and background colors, and place your logo in the middle
  • Add a frame around the code with a call to action such as Scan for menu, in any color
  • Your QR style is saved with the menu, so a reprint months later gets the same code
  • The check your email screen now reminds you up front to look in your spam folder
  • Your dashboard and a menu's version history load faster
  • A round of polish on the theme collection

Menus that open in the guest's language, and an accessibility statement

  • A guest whose browser prefers one of your active languages now lands on that language automatically when they open the base menu link; a flag they pick is remembered on their device, and a link to a specific language always opens that language
  • Published menus are now checked against WCAG 2.1 AA with an automated accessibility scan on every release, covering translated variants, the dietary filter, and TV display mode
  • Screen readers now hear the full name behind every dietary and allergen code instead of the abbreviation, and a menu without a visible title still announces the menu name as its heading
  • The Powered by footer and the TV display mode now keep enough contrast on every background, including menus without a page background on a TV

Thirty six new themes, and backgrounds shaped for every page size

  • Thirty six new themes join the collection, taking it to over eighty, with looks for wine bars, breweries, cafes, bakeries, diners, food trucks, tea rooms, and banquets
  • Curated background art now comes composed for landscape, square, and tall or wide pages, so the decorated edges are no longer cropped away when a page is not US letter portrait
  • The right composition is picked per page from its own size, so a menu can mix portrait and landscape pages and each one gets art made for its shape
  • The background picker shows the thumbnail for your page's shape, so what you pick is what you get
  • Page margins now clear the background's decorated band on every page size, so text no longer runs into the border on tabloid, A4, A5, or square pages
  • The margins you set in the overrides panel are a minimum: clearance for the artwork is added on top and cannot be lost by editing
  • A round of polish on the theme filters and popovers on phones
