Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Menu Author ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Menu Author web application and the marketing site at menuauthor.com (together, the "Service").

1. What we collect

Account data. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, restaurant or business name, and any address details you provide. Authentication runs through a managed identity provider, which may set its own technical cookies for sign-in. The full list of providers we use is in the Sub-processors section below.

Menu content. Menus you create (items, prices, descriptions, photos, logos, and other assets you upload) are stored on our infrastructure and served through our content delivery network.

Billing data. Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We store your subscription tier and status; we do not store full payment card details.

Usage analytics. We track anonymized counts of menu views, broken down by source (QR scan, web link, embed, signage). These counts are not tied to individual visitors and do not use tracking cookies.

Error tracking. Inside the app we capture errors through a managed error-monitoring service so we can fix bugs.

2. What we do not do

  • We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies on guests who view your published menus.
  • We do not sell your data, your guests' data, or your menu content to third parties.
  • We do not use your menus or content to train AI models for anyone other than you.

3. AI menu generation

When you import a PDF, photo, or text via the AI generator, that content is sent to a third party language model provider (named in the Sub-processors section below) to produce a structured menu. The provider processes the content under their own data terms; your input is not used to train any models.

4. Sub-processors

We rely on the following service providers to operate Menu Author. This list is the source of truth; we'll update it here if it changes.

  • Google Cloud Platform: hosting, storage, database, and background processing.
  • Firebase: authentication.
  • Stripe: subscription billing.
  • Anthropic: AI menu generation.
  • Resend: transactional email.
  • Cloudflare: content delivery network and bot protection.
  • Sentry: error monitoring.

5. Your rights

You can export your menu data, delete menus, or close your account at any time from inside the app. To request a full export of your account data or full deletion outside the app, use the contact form.

6. International transfers

Menu Author is operated from the United States. By using the Service you consent to your data being processed in the United States and other jurisdictions where our sub-processors operate.

7. Children

Menu Author is a business product and is not intended for users under 16.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll notify account holders by email and post an updated version here with a new "Last updated" date.
