Team and roles
Running a restaurant is rarely a one person job. Menu Author lets you bring the rest of your team onto your account, with two roles that control what each person can do.
Admin and Staff
Section titled “Admin and Staff”There are two roles on a Menu Author account: Admin and Staff. Admins have full access to everything on the account. Staff have access to the day-to-day work of building and publishing menus, without access to billing or user management.
What Staff can do
Section titled “What Staff can do”A Staff account can create, edit, duplicate, publish, and unpublish menus, and delete them too. That covers essentially all of the hands-on menu work, so a Staff member can run the menus for a restaurant without needing Admin access.
What Staff cannot do
Section titled “What Staff cannot do”Staff accounts do not have access to billing or user management. Adding or removing team members, changing roles, and anything to do with your subscription stays with Admins.
Inviting someone to your team
Section titled “Inviting someone to your team”Bring someone onto your account by sending them an email invitation from Team. It lands in My Invitations on their end, waiting for them to respond.
Resending or canceling an invitation
Section titled “Resending or canceling an invitation”If an invitation has not been accepted yet, you can find it on the Invitations page and resend it or cancel it, whichever the situation calls for.
My Invitations
Section titled “My Invitations”My Invitations lists invitations other accounts have sent to you. Accept one to join that account and switch into it, or decline it if it is not for you.
Activating and deactivating members
Section titled “Activating and deactivating members”Deactivate a team member to remove their access to the account without deleting their history from it, and activate them again later if they come back. Both actions are available from Team.
Changing someone’s role
Section titled “Changing someone’s role”Update a team member’s role between Admin and Staff at any time from Team, as their responsibilities change.
Protected accounts: the owner and yourself
Section titled “Protected accounts: the owner and yourself”Some protections apply no matter who is signed in. You cannot deactivate or remove yourself, and you cannot deactivate or remove the account’s creator. These protections keep an account from being locked out or left without an owner.
